Zombies are hitting the beach this summer! Or so it would seem in the latest poster for Fear the Walking Dead.
AMC released this new poster for the San Diego Comic Con where there will also be a panel promoting the show on July 10 (1 p.m., Hall H.) The cast and producers will be present to talk more about their take on the apocalypse.
The poster shows a lovely sunset by the beach with one set of footprints, one foot walking at a normal pace while the other is dragged along the sand. “Fear begins here,” the poster warns and it is clear that these footprints are the first of many more. A simple but powerful image, effectively piquing our interest in the upcoming spinoff.
Exclusive images of three of the main cast members (Alycia Debnam-Carey, Kim Dickens, and Cliff Curtis) have also been released online via Entertainment Weekly. Showrunner David Erickson likewise talks about how these human characters will take center stage while the zombies hobble in the background.
“Ultimately, it’s a family drama,” says Erickson in the EW report. “One of the things that Robert [Kirkman] and I discussed from the very beginning was, we’re starting a little earlier in the apocalypse. And what that allowed us to do in the pilot and season 1 is establish our core family, establish the problems and the conflicts that they have, and really let that be the initial world that we live in. And we layer in the onset of the apocalypse, we layer in our first walkers, but it’s really an effort to exacerbate the problems that already exist with Kim Dickens’ character and Cliff Curtis’ character and their sort of dysfunctional blended family. It’s really filtering the apocalypse through that.”
