While Marvel Studios’ big screen adaptation of Doctor Strange, starring Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch, doesn’t arrive in theaters until November 2016, those unfamiliar with the character will soon be able to familiarize themselves with Doctor Stephen Strange in an all-new ongoing comic book series debuting this fall.

The new series, entitled Doctor Strange, will be written by current Star Wars and Thor scribe Jason Aaron accompanied by artist Chris Bachalo (Uncanny X-Men, Avengers). This will be the character’s first ongoing series in almost twenty years, and Marvel promises the series will be will be filled magic, mysticism, and will be plenty bizarre.

Marvel editor-in-chief also promises that Aaron and Bachalo’s original take on Doctor Strange, a.k.a. The Sorcerer Supreme, will “redefine” the character. The synopsis for the upcoming ongoing goes as follows:

A dark new power is rising. One that will have repercussions for all magic users. The threat is growing, and Strange knows he won’t be powerful enough to stop it. If he is to have any kind of hope, it will take a different kind of Sorcerer Supreme. Because all magic comes with a price, and it’s high time Stephen Strange balanced the scales.

Doctor Strange #1 will lands on store shelves and digital platforms this Fall 2015. Will you be picking this series up? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
