The CW Delivers a First Look at ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’

First there was Arrow. Then came The Flash. Now The CW will soon add another addition to their DC television universe with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. In what will basically be The CW’s Justice League, Legends of Tomorrow will focus on a team that includes Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brandon Routh), Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz), Firestorm (Victor Garber), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), who have all appeared either on Arrow or The Flash or both. Some new additions to DC’s television universe come in the form of Hawkgirl, played by Ciara Renee, and Rip Hunter, played by Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill. Check out The CW’s “first look” at the team in action.

Wow! Now this looks awesome. Am I right? Judging from the trailer, Legends of Tomorrow will have an even blend of humor and action, with plenty of science fiction elements thrown in. We have confirmation that Vandal Savage, an immortal super-villain first introduced in DC Comics in the 1940s, will be the series’ main villain, at least in the series’ first season. Our heroes will have to travel through time, with the help of Time Master Rip Hunter, in order to defeat him.

Those of you who watch Arrow, should be happy to see Sara Lance return to the small screen after she was killed off in the season two premiere, “The Calm”. It’s made pretty obvious that Sara is resurrected in Ra’s al Ghul’s Lazarus Pit. Also, those who have been enjoying Brandon Routh’s take on The Atom should be happy to see he’s finally getting his shrinking powers, making him more in line with his comic book incarnation rather than just making him DC’s version of Iron Man.

When Arrow first premiered it remained very grounded in reality. Since the inclusion of The Flash, producers Greg Berlanti’s and Andrew Kreisberg’s CW DC universe has grown more and more comic booky. Legends of Tomorrow will go all out as we will see heroes time travel, return from the grave, literally grow wings and fly, and deal with threats far beyond Arrow and The Flash have taken on alone. It should prove to be an awesome ride.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres on The CW in 2016. No specific premiere date or time slot information has been released.
