Scott Eastwood, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and More Cast in DC’s ‘Suicide Squad’

The cast of DC/Warner Bros.’ follow up to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad is filling up quick. Already actors Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, and Jamie Dodd are all tied to the project. This week it was announced that four more may be joining the cast of the upcoming film.

First up, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast as the iconic Batman character Killer Croc, a villain who has reptile-like traits. Akinnuoye-Agbaje has appeared in numerous projects since the mid-90s. Recently he has appeared in Thor: The Dark World and Game of Thrones and has also held recurring roles the television series Lost and Oz.

Next up is Scott Eastwood, son of actor/director Clint Eastwood. Scott Eastwood has recently appeared in the David Aye-directed film, Fury. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, sources are reporting that Eastwood will play Steve Trevor. In the comics Steve Trevor runs Task Force X, a.k.a. the Suicide Squad, alongside Amanda Waller, who will be played by Viola Davis. Trevor has also been known as the love interest of Wonder Woman.

Boxer Raymond Olubowale is also rumored to play King Shark in the upcoming film. Although the athlete does not have a substantial film resumé, he has appeared in Resident Evil: Afterlife and Resident Evil: Retribution. King Shark first appeared in comics in 1994 and has been part of the Suicide Squad line-up since DC’s New 52 reboot began. The character even appeared in DC’s recent animated film, Batman: Assault on Arkham (which was basically a Suicide Squad movie) voiced by John Dimaggio (Adventure Time).

Lastly, while it hasn’t been officially confirmed, it’s being rumored that newcomer Karen Fukuhara will play the villain Plastique. Plastique, a character who first appeared in comics in 1982, was most recently portrayed by Kelly Frye on The CW’s The Flash.

Whether or not these characters will be major part in Suicide Squad or if they will simply appear as cameos has not yet been revealed. With a lot of big names already attached to the team itself and Jared Leto constantly teasing his apparent Joker voice on stage, it might be safe to say most of attention will go on them instead.

Suicide Squad is set to release in theaters August 5, 2016. What are your thoughts on these latest casting details? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
