While the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may have failed critically, only scoring a 21% on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie succeeded in the box office grossing over $485 million worldwide. Its sequel, which will be directed by Dave Green (Earth to Echo), has already been slated to release in theaters 2016.

Joining returning actors Megan Fox and Will Arnett, who played April O’Neil and Vernon Fenwick respectively, will be current Arrow star Stephen Amell.

Amell will play the iconic TMNT character Casey Jones a vigilante who uses a variety of sports clubs in his war on crime. In the past, Casey Jones has been portrayed on the big screen by Elias Koteas (Chicago P.D.) in the original TMNT trilogy and was even voiced by Captain America star Chris Evans in the 2007 animated feature.

According to sources, Stephen Amell tested against half a dozen actors this past weekend and it was his chemistry with Megan Fox that made him an ideal choice for the role. As of right now no plot details on the upcoming sequel have been revealed, nor have any details been revealed on this new version of Casey Jones. Whether the movie fails to impress critics and audiences I have confidence Amell will do a fine the job in the role. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
