Last year it was revealed that Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) would portray the iconic Superman villain, Lex Luthor, in Warner Bros.’ upcoming DC film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Details on Eisenberg’s portrayal of the character have been scarce, but considering how much longer we have to wait for Dawn of Justice to be released, it’s not surprising that Warner Bros. has been holding back. Now, exactly one year before Dawn of Justice‘s March 25, 2016 theatrical release date, we have the first official image of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Check it out.
Today, March 25, 2015, Entertainment Weekly released the image above of a bald Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Accompanying the image were a few words from director Zack Snyder on what to expect from the character:
He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course. Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.
While it’s always nice to get more details on Dawn of Justice, the last one being our first look at Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman, there really isn’t much to get from this image. Other than the lack of suit and tie, I’m sure this image is what most people expected when they originally heard Eisenberg was attached to the film. Warner Bros. still has plenty of time to get their ad campaign going, though. I’m sure we’ll see a lot more details and images emerge before 2016.
