First Trailer Revealed for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’

The first trailer Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series is here! Developed by Drew Goddard (Alias, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Daredevil stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Scott Glenn as Stick, and Vincent D’Onfrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.

The trailer gives us a much darker and edgier interpretation of the character and the world Matt Murdock encompasses than the critically panned 2003 movie starring Ben Affleck. Short glimpses of several recurring characters are shown, including Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, Claire Temple, Daredevil’s mentor Stick, Kingpin, and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in what is said to be an early version of his signature costume inspired by the black suit worn in Frank Miller’s Daredevil: The Man Without Fear. The level of violence featured in this trailer, though not over the top, is definitely a huge step above what Marvel Studios has done with their movies and television series recently.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Marvel Comics hero and were fortunate enough to not see the 2003 film (though, I’m not going to lie, I kind of liked it), Matt Murdock/Daredevil is a blind New York lawyer turned vigilante with extremely heightened senses. Created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, Daredevil first appeared in Daredevil #1 in 1964 sporting his classic yellow and red costume, which will hopefully not make a recurrence on screen. Daredevil continues to remain in publication today written by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee, though many still praise Frank Miller’s 1980s interpretation.
