‘Reign’ Renewed for a Third Season!

Reigners! Royals! [insert another creative group name here] Just when I was beginning to be a tad worried on Reign‘s likelihood for a season renewal, Sunday (Jan. 11th) The CW made the most perfect announcement.

Reign has officially been renewed for a third season! That’s right, Queen Mary and King Francis get to rule France for another year!
In fact, the CW has renewed all 8 of its shows in the current 2014-2015 fall season. Pretty remarkable (and rare) in my opinion.

The president of the CW, Mark Pedowitz had much to say about the early renewals. “Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience.” He also mentions by renewing each show so early, much time and consideration can now be planned for the following season (2015-2016) to come. This I personally couldn’t agree more with. With the knowledge that their show is not in fact cancelled, each respective show-runner can either take their time planning/writing original storylines or simply get a jump ahead.

Regardless, I’m ecstatic. I get to continue to watch a show about a strong-willed queen who’s trying to figure out how the heck she’s going to rule her country/people and recap all of the goings-on/my feelings right here. I look forward to another year in French court.

The mid-season premiere of Reign, 2.11: “Getaway”, returns Thursday January 22nd at 9/8c.
