The CW has announced that both Arrow and The Flash, along with several other CW series, have all been renewed for a new season. Arrow will begin its fourth season in the Fall of 2015, while The Flash enters its second. Additionally, The CW has renewed Supernatural, Jane The Virgin, Reign, The 100, The Originals, and The Vampire Diaries.

The CW also has plans for expanding their DC Comics universe by bringing fans a new series their CW Seed online platform. Announced yesterday during the Television Critics Association press tour, the DC Comics’ character Vixen will have get her own animated series set in the world of Arrow and The Flash.

Vixen, a character who first appeared in 1981 in Action Comics #521, has the ability to access the strengths of any animal she chooses through the power of a totem she wears around her neck. In the comics she has been associated with both the Suicide Squad and the Justice League of America.

Producer Marc Guggenheim expressed his excitement with the project recently in an interview with Comic Book Resources. In the interview, Guggenheim commented on the possibility of Vixen appearing in live-action form on Arrow or The Flash.

We always say “never say never,” and if the character resonates with people, that would be wonderful. I would love to be in a position where CW said to us, “Hey, we want a Vixen live-action show.” That’d be wonderful. We’ll have to sort of see how things play out.

An official release date for Vixen has yet to be announced. Until then The Flash returns with new episodes Tuesday, January 20 on The CW, while Arrow returns January 21. What do you think about The CW’s plan for a Vixen animated series? Would you like to see her appear in Arrow and The Flash? Let us know in the comments.
