Marvel’s highly anticipated Netflix series are currently in production. Daredevil has recently wrapped up principal photography and A.K.A. Jessica Jones has cast Krysten Ritter in the titular role. Now Marvel has cast another to star opposite Krysten Ritter in A.K.A. Jessica Jones and, as we already know, he will have his own Netflix series on the way.

Mike Colter, current star of the XBOX original series Halo: Nightfall, has been cast as Luke Cage. Leaving her superhero life behind, Ritter’s Jessica Jones meets Colter’s Luke Cage, who in turn changes her life dramatically.

The character, who made his first appearance in the comic Luke Cage, Hero for Hire in 1972, is known to possess super human strength and nearly unbreakable skin and muscle tissue. Currently, Luke Cage can be found in the pages of Captain America and the Mighty Avengers.

According to Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, “Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage. We’re excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life.” Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television adds:

Fans have longed to see Luke Cage and in Mike we’ve found the perfect actor. Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones, and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos.

Besides Halo: Nightfall, Colter has appeared in numerous projects since 2002 including, The Following, American Horror Story: Coven, and The Good Wife. He is also set to appear in TNT’s upcoming series starring Sharron Stone, Agent X.
