Variety confirms that Oscar Isaac will play the titular villain in X-Men: Apocalypse, the follow-up to 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Recently nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in Inside Llewyn Davis, Isaac has played pivotal roles in the films Drive, Sucker Punch, and several other projects since the late 90s. X-Men wouldn’t be the only blockbuster franchise Isaac has recently been attached to. He is also set to appear in the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
X-Men: Apocalypse, which will have more “mass destruction” than its predecessors according to director Bryan Singer, will be set in the 1980s and will see Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence returning to their previous roles.
X-Men: Apocaylpse is set to release in theaters May 27, 2016. What do you think of Oscar Isaac being cast as Apocalypse? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
