Collider is reporting that Margot Robbie has been cast as Harley Quinn in DC/Warner Bros.’ upcoming Suicide Squad film, which is currently set to premiere in theaters 2016. Robbie has most recently appeared in Suite Française, About Time, and the Martin Scorsese-directed The Wolf of Wall Street. She is also set to play Jane Porter in David Yates’ upcoming Tarzan film. Based on the comics by DC, Suicide Squad will tell the story of a team of super villains, refereed to as Task Force X, brought together and forced to do missions against their will under the supervision of A.R.G.U.S. Director Amanda Waller. The team has most recently appeared in season two of The CW’s Arrow, as well as their own animated film entitled Batman: Assault on Arkham. Harley Quinn, whose origins span out of DC’s Batman series, is assumed to be a key member of the team. David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch) is set to direct. Harley Quinn fans already know of her twisted relationship with The Joker since she was first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. The news of Warner Bros’ apparent decision to cast Margot Robbie as Harley also sits on top of a current widespread rumor. It’s being said that The Joker, who was last portrayed by the late Heath Ledger in Christoper Nolan’s The Dark Knight, will appear in the Suicide Squad film and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyer’s Club) is in talks to play the role. So, what do you think about the decision to cast Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. She certainly looks the part, but do you think Robbie can pull off the level of crazy Harley Quinn fans will come to expect? Feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments. Source
