J.K. Rowling is still hard at work on the screenplay for her Harry Potter spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but some new information about the movie and the planned series it’s set to kick off has been revealed.
Yesterday, while Warner Bros showed off their plans for ten new DC Comics films, they also let slip the release schedule for Rowling’s new trilogy. The premiere for the first movie has already been established for November 18, 2016, but two more films are currently set, one for 2018 and another in 2020. But the series may become longer than that, as CEO Kevin Tsujihara described it as “at least a trilogy.” That gives fans hope that they may see even more Potter related films for many years to come.
Also, it was officially confirmed that director David Yates will be returning to helm the series after his work on the latter half of the original Harry Potter film franchise.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, as stated above, will arrive in theaters on November 18, 2016. So new Harry Potter-universe movies will be in our eyeballs starting in two years and onward to infinity, or whenever Rowling feels like she’s had enough. Excited? Hope there will be more to the series or do you think a trilogy would work better? What do you think about David Yates returning? Let us know in the comments!
