Marvel’s Daredevil Revealed at NYCC

Daredevil, Marvel’s first of four upcoming Netflix series, will debut next year, and Marvel gave us the first look at the Man Without Fear at New York Comic-Con.

First, we have a picture of Matt Murdock in his civilian attire, looking like a totally normal lawyer by day (give or take a few bruises):

Then, we have a glimpse of Murdock in his first Daredevil costume:

Footage was also shown at the panel, which unfortunately has not been released online, but Screenrant has a great rundown of what happened. By the sounds of it, the show will be going for a dark and gritty feel with a strong character focus. Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight promises that things will be morally gray, saying that there aren’t any heroes or villains, just characters making different choices. The show will also be within the same universe as the Marvel movies and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but there was no indication that there would be any crossover.

In addition to these two photos, a few new casting announcements were made and we finally found out the name of Rosario Dawson’s character. She will be playing Claire Temple, who was described at the panel as “a nurse who works at night,” suggesting that she may become the iconic Night Nurse. Joining her in the cast will be Vondie Curtis-Hall as Ben Urich, Toby Moore as Wesley, the Kingpin’s right hand man, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa, the Kingpin’s lover, and Bob Gunton will play Leland Owlsley, better known as the supervillain The Owl.

Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in May 2015. What do you think of the first photos? Let us know in the comments!
