Syfy has announced that their original series Defiance and Dominion have both been renewed. A 13-episode third season has been ordered for Defiance, and executive producer Kevin Murphy (Caprica) will return to lead the series. Thirteen episodes for Dominion have also been ordered for its upcoming second season. Vaun Wilmott (Sons of Anarchy) will return as executive producer. Both series are set to return in 2015 with all-new episodes.

According to a press release from NBC Universal, both Defiance and Dominion are the top cable shows in the 8-10PM Thursday night time slot for people 25-54 years old. They each average 2.7 million viewers, and Dominion is considered the “most social drama on Thursdays across all of TV in tweets”.

The previous second season of Defiance was strong overall and surpassed the show’s premiere season. Defiance continues to be unique – in fact that Syfy has teamed with Trion Worlds, Inc. to bring fans a tie-in online video game which went free-to-play earlier this year.
