Fantastic Four Reboot Pushed Back

Fantastic Four comic pageFantastic Four is a reboot of a franchise that, well, most people haven’t really asked for. Perhaps it’s because the original movies weren’t well received or maybe it’s just reboot-fatigue, but there has been far less excitement surrounding the film than for the many, many, many other superhero movies that are in production. 20th Century Fox may fall into the same trap that the recent Spider-Man films have been caught in, thanks to rebooting a franchise less than ten years after the release of the originals. But there are still those who are looking forward to the new film, and for those eager fans I have some bad news.

Fox has pushed back the release date for Fantastic Four. It’s not by much, though, so there won’t be a lot longer to wait. Instead of coming out on June 19, 2015, it will now premiere on August 7 of the same year. Fantastic Four is moving to the vacated slot for the Assassin’s Creed film, which has been removed from Fox’s schedule but is supposedly still in the works. Fox seems to be making a lot of changes to their lineup in recent days, including the addition of a Deadpool movie in 2016. Is this all part of a larger plan? Or is it several unconnected incidents that happen to be occurring around the same time? Pushing Fantastic Four to an August release may be inspired by how well Guardians of the Galaxy did in a similar slot. What do you think? Sound off in the comments!
