Amanda Pays Reprises Her Role as Dr. Tina McGee on ‘The Flash’

It seems John Wesley Shipp, who played Barry Allen/The Flash in the early 90s short-lived CBS Flash TV series, isn’t the only cast member from that show to return to the new CW version. Amanda Pays, who used to play Barry Allen’s potential love interest Dr. Tina McGee, will make her way onto The CW’s The Flash as the same character she played before. Although, she most likely won’t be a love interest for Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had this to say about the casting decision:

When we decided to bring Tina onto our version of The Flash, who better to get than the amazing actress who originated the part? Like with John Wesley Shipp, we are so proud and excited to have another actor from the original series join us on our new adventures for Barry Allen.

Unlike her comic book counterpart, who was first introduced in 1987, Dr. Tina McGee will not work for S.T.A.R. Labs. According to Variety, McGee will be a geneticist who works for a tech company that rivals them.

The Flash premieres Tuesday, October 7 at 8/7c on The CW.
