Dwayne Johnson Confirms Upcoming DC Film Role

Dwayne Johnson - Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson / Black Adam

For months now Dwayne Johnson, formerly known as The Rock, has teased that he will join DC’s cinematic universe either as Shazam or Black Adam. Shazam is the DC character who transforms from the adolescent Billy Batson into a muscle bound superhero by saying a single word, and Black Adam is Shazam’s nemesis and leader of the fictional nation of Khandaq.

In a recent tweet, along with a picture of Black Adam fighting Shazam, Dwayne Johnson has finally revealed which of these characters he will be playing:

That’s right! Dwayne Johnson will play Black Adam! Adding to this latest movie update, Variety reports that a Shazam film is currently in the works at Warner Bros. Darren Lemke, whose previous works include the screenplays for Jack the Giant Slayer and Turbo, has been appointed to write the script. Hiram Garcia (Hercules, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island)  is set to produce.

As of this moment Warner Bros. has not confirmed the release date for Shazam or whether or not Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam will make a appearance in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Justice League.

So, what do you think about Dwayne Johnson joining DC’s cinematic universe as Black Adam? Personally, I think he would’ve been better suited to play Shazam, but I look forward to seeing what he brings to this character and confident he’ll do well.
