Matt Ward has been cast in the upcoming third season of The CW’s Arrow as the DC villain Simon Lacroix, a.k.a. Komodo. A few of Ward’s previous credits include Tron: Legacy, an episode of Supernatural, and the Canadian teelvision series, Remedy.

According to showrunner Marc Guggenheim, Komodo will have a connection to this season’s overarching storyline. Guggenheim states, “you’re going to know what happens to Komodo at the end of the episode, but it will be a little bit tied in better with the season-long mythology than villain-of-the-week episodes have done in the past.”

Komodo is actually a fairly new character in the DC Comics universe. Created by Jeff Lemire (Justice League United) and Andrea Sorrentino (I, Vampire), Komodo first appeared in Green Arrow #17 in April 2013. A fellow archer himself, Komodo was once a student of Oliver Queen’s father and now bears a vendetta against Green Arrow. Whether the show will include this aspect of the character’s origins is uncertain at this time.

Arrow‘s third season premieres Wednesday,  October 8, 2014 at 8PM ET on The CW. Feel free to let us know your thoughts on Matt Ward being cast as Komodo in the comments below.
