Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Believe) and Henry Simmons (Ravenswood) have both been cast in the upcoming season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Simmons is set to play a mechanic in his 30s named Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, who will work alongside Coulson and his team. The Marvel character was first introduced in the comic Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. #3 in 1988 as a CIA operative turned S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

Kyle MacLachlan is set to play a character that will be very important to a certain Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. character in particular. SPOILERS AHEAD! You’ve been warned.

MacLachlan will play Skye’s father! The question of who Skye’s parents are has been an ongoing mystery on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In the season one episode, “Ragtag”, Raina (Ruth Negga) referred to Skye’s parents as “monsters” who destroyed Skye’s village when she was a child. At the very end of the show’s season one finale we were given a glimpse of Skye’s father, only seeing his grotesque, bloodied hand. It’s unclear when Skye’s father will make his first full appearance on the show.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, September 2, 2014 on ABC. Feel free to let us know what you think about these latest casting decisions in the comments.
