A ton of semi-spoilerish updates for The Flash dropped this week, from new set photos to details of upcoming villains. Before we get into that, The CW has released a brand new trailer for The Flash. The video below sees Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen/The Flash declaring himself “the fastest man alive,” while also giving fans a quick glimpse at more moments and dialogue from the upcoming pilot. If you’re already looking forward to this show, then this new teaser trailer may excite you a bit more. Check it out.
Now on to some minor spoilers. Judging from the first full trailer, we already know that the villain known as Weather Wizard in the comics will be introduced in the show’s pilot. It was also recently announced that Wentworth Miller had been cast as Leonard Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold. Now we can expect a few more DC villains to make their way to The Flash this season.
First up, Kelly Frye (Rake) is set guest star as Bette San Souci, a.k.a. Plastique. Originally appearing in 1982’s Fury of Firestorm #7, Plastique was introduced as a terrorist and bomb expert. The character was most recently seen in DC’s New 52 crossover event, Forever Evil. According to TV Line, San Souchi will be introduced in the fifth episode of The Flash as a bomb disposal expert who eventually takes on her villainous role.
In addition to Plastique, DC villain Tony Woodward, a.k.a. Girder, will be introduced in the show’s sixth episode. Girder was first introduced in the 2001 story Flash: Iron Heights. Through a series of circumstances Woodard becomes Girder after falling into a vat containing molten steel and scraps from S.T.A.R. Labs. Through the process he is given superhuman strength and resistance. As of right now, no actor has been cast in the role.
Another villain that will be appearing in The Flash is William Tockman, a.k.a. The Clock King. Tockman was last seen in the season two episode of Arrow, “Time of Death”. Actor Robert Knepper (Prison Break) will reprise his role as the character. According to TV Line, Barry Allen/The Flash will have to take on Tockman in the show’s seventh episode, along with another villain who has not been revealed.
There you have it. Hopefully that’s enough information to keep you Flash fans happy until the show premieres Tuesday, October 7, 2014 on The CW.
