Ra’s al Ghul

Warner Bros. Television has revealed the identity of Arrow‘s next primary villain, and it’s Ra’s al Ghul. Originally, Ra’s al Ghul was left out of the show’s recently released season three trailer, but WBTV has since re-debuted the trailer at Comic-Con International with new footage featuring the character.

We aren’t given a look at the character’s face, since an actor has not been cast in the role as of yet, but we are given glimpses at his attire. Judging from the new trailer, Ra’s al Ghul’s look may be very reminiscent of what fans have seen in the comics.

Ra’s al Ghul, who was created by Dennis O’neal and Neal Adams, originally started off as a villain, first appearing in 1971 in Batman #232. Since then the character has played a prominent role in DC Comics and has been featured in several animated series including Batman: The Animated Series, Young Justice, and Beware the Batman, just to name a few. His last live-action portrayal was done by Liam Neeson in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and The Dark Knight Rises. The CW’s Arrow has been building up to bringing this character into the series by first referencing his name in season two, and eventually bringing in his daughter Nyssa al Ghul, played by Katrina Law.

So, what do you think about Ra’s al Ghul becoming Oliver Queen’s next big adversary? Who would you like to see cast in the role? Check out the newly released season three trailer below and feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments.
