Sinister Six Gets Release Date, Spidey 3 Pushed Back

Sony has some big plans for their Spider-Man franchise, with spinoffs and sequels galore. Their first planned spinoff film, Sinister Six, has been officially given a release date: November 11, 2016.

Now, you may recall that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was going to be released on June 10, 2016. This announcement was made before Sony had plans to expand into spinoffs and just wanted to make a billion sequels. But apparently they’re far more interested in the spinoffs now (as evidenced by the strong focus on teaming up the villains in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as a lead-in to Sinister Six). The third Spidey film is being pushed back to 2018, most likely to the May 4 release date originally intended for the fourth installment, (which obviously is also being pushed back, if they still intend to make it at all).

Looks like Sony has changed their minds about a few things, but how might that affect the remaining Spider-Man sequels in terms of plot, not just release dates? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
