J.K. Rowling might still be busy in the Harry Potter universe with her screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and her continuing efforts at Pottermore, but she’s certainly not unwilling to move on. Her newest series of books, written under the pen name Robert Galbraith, is quickly expanding beyond possibly even Harry’s number of installments.
Rowling’s new series follows detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin as they investigate some pretty dark and gritty stuff. While promoting the second novel of the series, The Silkworm, Rowling, or should I say Galbraith, confirmed an earlier rumor that she had at least seven novels planned for the series. In fact, she promised us more than seven. She confirmed that she was already hard at work on the third, which will explore issues concerning soldiers returning from war, and that with an open-ended series like this she could keep writing for as long as she wants:
I love writing these books. One of the things I love about this genre is that – unlike Harry where there is an overarching story, here you are talking about discrete stories. So as long as your detective lives you can give him cases.
It sounds like J.K. Rowling, aka Robert Galbraith, will be writing for many years to come. Excited about the news? What topic do you think she should have Cormoran Strike investigate next? Tell us what you think in the comments below!
