The Flash has added another villain to appear in its premiere season. Wentworth Miller, who played the lead role on FOX’s Prison Break, has been cast as Leonard Snart, also known as Captain Cold. This news broke during The Flash panel at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour.
In the comics, Leonard Snart/Captain Cold is the leader of The Rogues, a group of villains The Flash battles repeatedly. The Rogues have gone through different line-ups over the years, but have often included the villains Mirror Master, Captain Boomerang, and Weather Wizard, alongside Captain Cold.
As his name suggests, Captain Cold has the ability to freeze his enemies either with his freeze gun or his own meta-human abilities, depending on what comic book continuity you follow. He first appeared in 1957 in Showcase #8.
Wentworth Miller is no stranger to the DC Universe. Before its cancellation, Miller voiced the character Slade Wilson/Deathstroke on Cartoon Network’s Young Justice. Now he’ll be a full-fledged live-action villain on The CW’s The Flash. Excited? Let us know in the comments.
The Flash premieres Wednesday, October 7, 2014.
