It seemed all hope was lost. Season after season Community struggled to remain on air until NBC finally decided to pull the plug and cancel the series after the conclusion of its fifth season. Well, Community fans can now rejoice with the news that this cult hit will return thanks to Yahoo! That’s right! Yahoo has picked up the series and will run its 13-episode sixth season via Yahoo Screen this Fall. Creator Dan Harmon, executive producers Chris McKenna, Russ Krasnoff and Gary Foster, as well as the entire cast will all return. In regards to this amazing news Dan Harmon stated the following:

I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!

Van Amburg, President of programming and production at Sony Pictures Television, promises audiences that the show’s budget for each episode will not diminish in any way and the production value will be as high as it ever was. Additionally, Vanburg says these new episodes may actually be a bit longer than their television predecessors. Obviously, this brings Community closer to meeting its goal of “Six Seasons and a Movie” but as of right now nothing is set in stone. If the show proves to be successful on this new platform fans may end up even seeing a seventh season, but let’s not get our hopes up too much just yet. For now let’s just be glad Community is coming back. Source
