Despite season 6 having been the most-watched yet, a changing of the guard is on the way for Castle this coming season.
Creator Andrew Marlowe, who has been in charge of the show since the beginning, is stepping down as showrunner for season 7, with executive producer David Amann taking over. Apparently Marlowe will continue to maintain a presence on the show, but will also be developing new projects as part of his ABC Studios deal. In a statement, Marlowe said,
“Over the past four seasons, David has proven himself to be a tremendous leader and a great steward of our show’s unique voice. I’m excited to continue our creative collaboration as he assumes his new responsibilities.”
Thoughts? Personally, I’m a little nervous about this news, as other shows that I’ve loved suffered after the original creators stepped down (I’m thinking The West Wing and In Plain Sight, as just a few examples). But I guess we can try to keep an open mind…
