New ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Poster Art Revealed

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - PosterIt feels like this summer is San Francisco’s turn to get the disaster movie treatment, first with Godzilla and now Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I mean, just check out the new poster for the film that was released yesterday. That Golden Gate Bridge isn’t looking so good. That’s all I’m saying.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the follow up to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the prequel (and reboot, though some threads of the original remain) of the 60s-70s Planet of the Apes franchise that ended up being way better than pretty much anyone was expecting (no really, if you haven’t seen it yet, do it. It’s really good).

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes place one decade after the events of Rise, and tells the continuing story of an ape named Caesar (Andy Serkis showing his acting chops through another magnificent motion capture performance), who is the leader of the genetically modified apes who are slowly ruling a world where humans are dying out due to a virus. A temporary peace soon breaks out into all out war between the humans and apes.

Serkis is joined this time by Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Keri Russell. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theatres 11th July, 2014.
