Drew Goddard Steps Down from Daredevil Series

Two shakeups at Marvel in two days: first Edgar Wright stepped down from Ant-Man, now Drew Goddard has stepped down from the Daredevil Netflix series.

Goddard was set to direct the pilot episode and act as showrunner for Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil, which is one of four series that are due out on Netflix in the next few years. Goddard’s stepping down, however, will probably not come as a complete shock as Wright’s had. In addition to Daredevil, Goddard has reportedly signed on to direct Sony’s Sinister Six, which no doubt make it difficult to split his time with running a show.

However, Goddard will remain an executive producer for Daredevil, and unlike with the Ant-Man situation, Marvel already has a replacement in line for director/showrunner: Steven S. DeKnight, the creator and showrunner for Starz’s Spartacus. DeKnight has also worked on a few Joss Whedon shows, which probably gives him a lot of cred at Marvel these days.

So what do you think about all this changeover? Will you miss Goddard or are you looking forward to DeKnight? Let us know in the comments!
