If you took the best of Mel Brooks and threw in a dash of Monty Python (especially Spamalot), Blackadder, and The Princess Bride, then you’d have ABC’s new Medieval Comedy (two words you don’t often see together as an entertainment reporter), Galavant.
Galavant was created by Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Tangled, and Cars), who has teamed up with the award-winning duo of composer Alan Menken (responsible for all your favorite songs from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules…we could keep going) and lyricist Glenn Slater (Tangled), and co-starring Timothy Omundson (fresh off one of our favorite US comedies, Psych) ABC promises it will be a “musical comedy fairytale of epic proportions.”
I can’t decide if it’s going to be a trainwreck or full of awesome. Either way, I’m in.

I am so excited that a network is giving a show like this a try. I really hope OUAT’s success will make viewers open to this show as well.
Unless it’s a train wreck. It really is a shame networks don’t make miniseries anymore, because this would be a perfect miniseries.
