‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Renewed, ‘Agent Carter’ Gets Greenlit

Agent CarterIt’s official! ABC has renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second season. Additionally, ABC has picked up Agent Carter to go straight to series.

Agent Carter will focus on Peggy Carter, who was introduced in Captain America: The First Avenger. Since then she was seen in Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter, which was a short included on the blu-ray release of Iron Man 3, and a brief scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (Reaper) will serve as executive producers/showrunners for the Agent Carter series, along with Christopher Markus (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as writer/executive producer and Jeph Loeb (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Deadline describes the series as follows:

It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.
