Da Vinci’s Demons S02 Ep07 – The Vault of Heaven

Leonardo, Nico, Zo and Riario find the Vault of Heaven

After 14 episodes, this week we finally get to the Vault of Heaven, although it’s not opened (so the title of the episode is a bit deceiving, yeah). As everyone might have expected, the path to the Vault of Heaven is not an easy one. The Vault is deeply hidden in the mountains and the one who will find it must solve three deadly puzzles first. Just like in the previous episode, the magical number “three” strikes again. Remember the fairytales you’ve read: the hero has to solve three puzzles, defeat three monsters, and so on and so forth. The riddles are really interesting and thought-provoking (I noticed the constellations of the second puzzle before Leo, haha). However, I would have preferred another way to solve the first one. Something like using the objects around them, not crafting a machine. I had no doubts that Da Vinci would easily decipher whatever he came across. And yeah, just like Nico, I’ve missed Leo’s genius at work. The tangled path to the Vault of Heaven teaches us that one can’t achieve the great things in life all by oneself. Da Vinci surely is one of the greatest minds the world has ever seen, but he still needs his friends’ and even his enemies’ help to find the Vault of Heaven.

Vanessa is attacked by an assassinMost shocking moment of the episode: Ima showing her true colours. I was like: ”You did WHAT?!?” I didn’t see that coming. That “You didn’t wait for me to open the Vault of Heaven together” thing is just a pretext. Ima has been lying from the very beginning. She knew Da Vinci was the only one who could get past the booby traps. Leo does all the work and then she just shows up and ruins everything. Our four boys are imprisoned once again and they are of no use now. However, I don’t think they’ll be killed. I mean, they can’t die, can they? Now I remember the scene season 2 starts with: Leonardo and Riario locked up, waiting to be executed. I have a feeling that we’ll see this scene again in the next episode. But wait: where are Zo and Nico? I don’t want them to die. Pretty pleaseeeee.

On the other side of the ocean, the Medicis are still in danger. Thank God Sasseti is finally dead. It was about time, really. He was such an annoying character. Now Clarice truly is in control. I don’t think she could have overcome her enemies without Carlo’s help. It seems that he really returned to help his family. Anyway, I can’t wait to see Lorenzo and Carlo’s encounter. I was so relieved to see that Vanessa and her baby were safe and sound. I like her character so much; they should have given her more screen time.

Lucrezia meets BayezidFar away from Florence, near Constantinople, Lucrezia meets with Bayezid, the heir to the Ottoman throne. By the way, everybody knows Laura Haddock is a beautiful woman, but dressed like that…My God, she is ravishing! Lucrezia presents him Osman Gazi’s sword and lures him to Rome. I’m very curious about Lucrezia’s plan and I must say that I don’t understand this move. Still, things don’t go according to plan as she’s being held captive while Bayezid is away. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for her. Speaking of Lucrezia, Ima tells Da Vinci a very interesting thing: she felt that his heart belonged to another woman. I must say that I feared Leo fell in love with this exotic beauty, but truth be told, he gave Lucrezia’s ring to Ima simply because he had no choice. I just hope he’ll get it back.

I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I can’t help it: Tom Riley makes a great Da Vinci! He is perfect.

So, what do you think of this week’s episode? Are you excited for the next one? Let us know in the comments.
