The TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s book The Casual Vacancy will start shooting this summer in southwest England. It is set to air on BBC One sometime this year, and Sarah Phelps is writing the screenplay and Jonny Campbell is signed on to direct the three-part miniseries.
Originally there were no plans for a US release, meaning that us fans across the pond would have to wait for some kind soul to offer a download online. But now we can stop worrying, because HBO has signed on as co-producer with plans to air the miniseries themselves. Unfortunately, just when the series will air we don’t yet know, so we’ll keep you updated on that. In the meantime, I’m offering a high five to my fellow Rowling fans in the US.
Looking forward to the miniseries? Let us know in the comments!
