Patton Oswalt as Agent Eric Koenig

Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt will soon guest star on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Eric Koenig. The character Eric Koenig first appeared in 1966 in  Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #27, and had worked alongside Nick Fury himself.

Patton Oswalt, a fan-favorite amongst geek circles, has acted in several movies and TV projects including King of Queens, Ratatouille, and much more. He’s also no stranger to working with Joss Whedon having guest starred on Dollhouse.

Oswalt had a lot to say about his role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and seems very happy and excited for the opportunity to appear in a show he loves.  Apparently, when he first got the call from Marvel to guest star he wondered if he would play a certain other character:

When they first told me the character’s name, I’ll admit the first thing I did is I went on Wikipedia and looked up the M.O.D.O.K. character to see if Koenig was maybe his name before he became M.O.D.O.K., but it wasn’t. They keep on talking about the Clairvoyant in the show and I’m like, ‘is that M.O.D.O.K.? Am I M.O.D.O.K.?

He might not be playing the Marvel character M.O.D.O.K., but its nice to see he’s not the only one speculating on who The Clairvoyant is. He then went on to praise Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for their “elaborate” practical sets and the characters’ “great sense of camaraderie”. He’s also looking forward to seeing whether the character Agent Garrett, played by Bill Paxton, will eventually become a cyborg to which he received the reply “you’ll have to wait and see”.

So, what do you think about Patton Oswalt guest starring on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Let us know in the comments.
