Fox’s upcoming Gotham TV series, based on characters published by DC Comics, has begun filming. Thanks to The Daily Star we have a first look at actors Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, and Robin Lord Taylor on set. Ben McKenzie (Southland) is playing the young Detective James Gordon, who’s older counterpart was recently portrayed by Gary Oldman in The Dark Knight Rises. Donal Logue (Vikings) is playing Detective Harvey Bullock, a partner to McKenzie’s Gordon.
Robin Lord Taylor, who appeared on season 4 of The Walking Dead, is playing Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin. The set photos reveal Taylor’s Penguin reviewing the newspaper “The Gotham Gazette” which contains an article concerning the murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents. His clothing, as well as the clothing worn by McKenzie and Logue, definitely fit the look Logue described when he stated Gotham had a “roaring 20s” feel to it.
Gotham, executive produced by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist), also stars Sean Pertwee (Elementary) as Alfred Pennyworth, Jada Pinkett Smith (Hawthorne) as crime boss Fish Mooney, David Mazouz (Touch) as Bruce Wayne, and many more. The series is scheduled to premiere on Fox later this year. Check out the first official set photos below and feel free let us know what you think in the comments.
