Amazon Studios gives series orders for “The After”, “Bosch”, and more

At the beginning of February, Amazon Studios opened up voting on their second “Pilot” season, which allows Amazon Prime users in the US and Lovefilm users in the UK to peruse pilots for several shows and vote as to whether or not they’d like to see that series get a full season order.

And now we have the first announcement of which shows will be moving forward.

  • The After – starring Jamie Kennedy and Heroes’ Adrian Pasdar, from X-Files creator Chris Carter. This sci-fi drama tells of eight strangers thrown together by mysterious forces who struggle to survive in a violent world.
  • Bosch – starring Lost and The Good Wife actor Titus Welliver, based on Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series of books. Bosch follows a homicide detective pursuing the killer of a 13-year-old boy while standing trial on accusations he murdered a suspected serial killer in cold blood.
  • Mozart in the Jungle – starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Malcolm McDowell, written by Roman Coppola and Jason Schwartzman. Mozart is a comedy drama based on the memoir of the same name by Blair Tindall. Set in the world of classical music the show looks at what happens behind the curtain at the New York Symphony Orchestra.
  • Transparent – starring Jeffrey Tambor. A dark comedy, about a family which begins to unravel after a series of secrets are revealed.

That means of the adult oriented programming, only The Rebels will not get a series order. The fate of the 5 childrens programs has yet to be announced.
