Glee Stars Headline Family Equality Council LA Awards Dinner

The 10th Annual Family Equality Council’s Los Angeles Awards Dinner is to take place on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at the Globe Theatre in Universal City, CA.

This west coast event is aimed in connecting the growing LA community of families headed by LGBT parents and supporters, as well as advancing efforts to create equality for all families.

The host for the evening will be Alec Mapa, and features performances by Darren Criss (Glee), Amber Riley (Glee, Dancing with the Stars), and musician Adam Lambert.

This year’s  event will honor:

Jennifer Tyrrell who began her advocacy in the community after being removed from her leadership position with the Boy Scouts of America for being gay. She has spoken at GLAAD Media Awards in LA, San Francisco, NYC and attended her first Gay Pride Parade in 2012 in NY where she had the honor of riding with the Grand Marshall for the year, George Takei. She was also the Grand Marshall of Toledo OH’s 2012 Gay Pride Parade, spoken at publicly at equality rallies, and appeared on news programs to speak about her journey to bring equality to the BSA.

Brad Bredeweg & Peter Paige (Queer As Folk) for their groundbreaking work with their television show The Fosters. Bredeweg & Paige are both currently the Creators and Executive Producers for the show with Jennifer Lopez (American Idol) as another Executive Producer.   The Fosters is a drama about a multi-ethnic family of foster and biological kinds being raised by two moms. The show won the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Breakout Show in 2013.
