No Stan Lee in Guardians of the Galaxy

It’s a tradition, one that everyone loves, and that moment you see it is always special. I’m talking about Stan Lee’s cameo in the Marvel movies, of course. Whenever a new Marvel film arrives, fans are always on the lookout for where Lee’s going to show up next. Kinda like Where’s Waldo but without the striped hat. But when Guardians of the Galaxy hits the big screen, don’t bother looking. Stan Lee will not be making a cameo.

Stan LeeBut why, you ask? WHY? Though he’s been absent from some of the Marvel films produced by other studios, such as the Blade trilogy and several X-Menrelated films, he’s shown up in every film produced by Marvel Studios and Disney. But when it comes to Guardians of the Galaxy, the reason for him being a no-show is simple: he didn’t create the characters. Stan Lee explained it all in an interview with DweebCast:

This is the one group I didn’t create. I didn’t write ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ I’m not even sure who they all are; I can’t wait to see the movie!

I suppose we’ll survive, but things will be noticeably less excelsior without him.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be released, sans Stan Lee, on August 1, 2014. Will you miss him? Do you hope he’ll show up in the next movie at least? Sound off in the comments!
