Outlander is an upcoming STARZ series based on the international bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon. It tells the story of Claire Randall, a combat nurse in 1945 who, while on her honeymoon in Scotland, enters a rock circle and is somehow transported back to 1743. Amidst the clans of the Scottish Highlands, Claire finds herself in a dangerous new world and is forced to marry a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, Jame Fraser, in order to save her own life. The marriage ignites a passionate affair, and Claire finds her heart torn between two very different men in two very different worlds.
It joins STARZ hit series Da Vinci’s Demons and the upcoming Black Sails as the channel continues its period fare of original programming, but sets itself apart with the touch of science fiction to add to the romance and history.
We sat down with Executive Producer and Writer Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) and novelist Diana Gabaldon to get a taste of what to expect of the series which only just began production.
Outlander will air on STARZ in Summer 2014.
