Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at NYCC

Agents of SHIELD panel at NYCC 2013At New York Comic Con this weekend, Marvel had a panel for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which had just been picked up for a full season order, so naturally spirits were high among fans and panelists. Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, and actors Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz) and Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons) made an appearance and answered fan questions about the show. They also previewed the fourth episode, set to air this Tuesday. EW has a good run down of what happened and a short clip of the upcoming episode here. (Note: Spoilers at the link)

Not much was revealed during the panel. Comic Book Resources has a great recap of the Q&A here. There’s another good recap at Newsarama. Most of what we learned is that the producers are trying to make the show feel international by having scenes shot on location in different countries, like the scene in Paris in the pilot and an upcoming scene in a Stockholm subway station. Also, they will continue to have guest stars from the Marvel movies pop up now and again, like Agent Hill and Nick Fury have already done, but they don’t want the show to become “an Easter egg farm.” As for whether or not any of the characters from AoS will show up in other Marvel properties depends on the future success of the show. So if things go well, we might be seeing cameos from Fitz and Simmons in the films someday.

Other fun facts learned from the panel:

  • Yes, we will find out what happened to Coulson. Eventually.
  • Iain De Caestecker really wants that monkey.
  • Elizabeth Henstridge loves Loki and thinks he just needs a cup of tea and a hug.
  • Favorite part of the show so far for Elizabeth and Iain: She says getting to know the cast and crew, he says playing with the technology.
  • There are plans to explore all of the characters’ back stories.
  • We may hear about that cellist Coulson was dating in The Avengers.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC. Did you get to see the panel? What question would you have asked? Let us know in the comments below!
