Here’s an interesting turn of events with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: we may be getting a supervillain sooner than we expected. Last month we told you that Ian Hart had been cast in an unknown role. Now ABC has revealed the details for episode 3, “Asset,” which lists Hart as playing Dr. Franklin Hall (it also finally tells us which scientist David Conrad will be playing):
“The Asset” – When the brilliant scientist, Dr. Franklin Hall, is kidnapped, Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. agents must race against the clock to locate him. Skye is their only way in–pushing the team to their limits when the entire plan turns upside-down.
Guest starring are Ian Hart as Dr. Franklin Hall, David Conrad as Ian Quinn, Josh Cowdery as Agent Tyler, Bodie Newcomb as Agent Mack, Scott Subiono as Todd Chesterfield, Vachik Mangassarian as Qasim Zaghlul, Assaf Cohen as translator, Brandon Molale as Quinn’s main guard.
While Ian Quinn, Conrad’s character, doesn’t sound familiar, Dr. Franklin Hall is well known within the Marvel comics universe. After an experiment gone wrong, Dr. Hall becomes the super-powered villain Graviton. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the show will go through with that storyline, but why else bring in a character that comic book fans will know? At the moment we can just assume, but it’s a pretty good assumption.
In addition to this fascinating news, we also have a preview that shows a few glimpses of episodes 2 and 3. It’s very short and it won’t embed so here’s the link to the Entertainment Weekly article. The preview is only 26 seconds long, but a full 9o seconds will be shown Monday night during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will premiere this Tuesday, September 24 at 8pm on ABC. What do you think about the possible supervillain? Or that preview? Which villain would you like to see most on the show? Sound off in the comments!
