No Cameo for Stan Lee in X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men: First Class line up

Stan LeeYou may have noticed something missing from The Wolverine. Something you were expecting and maybe waiting for in the back of your mind: Stan Lee’s cameo. He’s in almost all the Marvel movies across the different studios, showing up in The Avengers and Spider-man, and, yes, even in some of the X-Men films too. But he didn’t make his usual appearance in Logan’s latest romp.

And he’s not going to be in X-Men: Days of Future Past either.

On his absence from the new films, he had this to say during an appearance at the Toronto Fan Expo:

I have bad news for you. I was supposed to be in Montreal today, doing the cameo for X-Men – the new X-Men movie. But I said, ‘No, I’m going to visit my friends in Toronto instead.’

…And I wasn’t in Wolverine, because they shot that in Australia, and it was too far for me to swim. In most of the others, I’ll be popping up.

Well, guys, I guess we always knew this would happen, him taking on fewer and fewer cameos. But I didn’t expect it so soon. Luckily he’ll still be “popping up” in some of the films, even though it just won’t be the same to not see him there all the time. However, it’s not the first time he’s bowed out of a cameo, usually for location’s sake: He didn’t appear in X2, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, or X-Men: First Class either (hmm, I’m noticing a theme). Of course he is 90 years old, I suppose he’s earned a break.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released, sans Stan Lee, May 22, 2014 in the UK and May 23 in the US. What do you think about this latest development? Will you miss Stan Lee? Let us know in the comments below!
