We have some new details about Supernatural‘s upcoming season nine. First, a bit of casting news: Tahmoh Penikett has been cast as a warrior angel named Ezekiel, and his appearance may set in motion a major storyline for the season. Since the angels were all cast out of heaven by Metatron at the end of last season, the warring factions have fallen to Earth and Castiel is going to be an easy target to blame. Will Ezekiel be an ally or an enemy? They are bringing heaven’s bickering and brawling to Earth and it should be a sight to see.
Next, we have some details on a particular episode due this season. There’s going to be a flashback episode set in the 1930s with a young hunter named Dorothy. EW phrased it in a way that I think is particularly interesting:
Prepare for flashbacks to the ‘30s in episode four, which is titled “Slumber Party.” In the same episode, we’ll meet a young new hunter named Dorothy, who is from a very far away land that is supposed to be fictional. Keywords here: “supposed to be.”
Hold on a minute, does this mean they’re taking on The Wizard of Oz? I wouldn’t put it past them – this is Supernatural after all. They’ve done weirder.
Supernatural will premiere its ninth season on Tuesday, October 8, at 9pm on CW. What are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments below!
