Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: New Poster and Details Revealed

This past Sunday was the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, and the cast and crew of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. showed up for a panel to promote the upcoming show. Both IGN and The Hollywood Reporter wrote up their complete coverage of the panel, with IGN including some additional interviews. Here are the highlights:

  • The show will not be an “Easter egg farm” with an overload of crossover appearances from the film characters to promote the next big screen Marvel flick, but there will be some crossover to an extent.
  • They want the show to focus on the characters and not the special effects or film crossovers.
  • While Joss Whedon will probably not be directing another episode soon because of his commitments to Avengers 2, he will have a big influence on the show.
  • There will be standalone episodes but with the main over-arcing mythology being interwoven within them.
  • They want to make it accessible for non-Avengers fans.
  • The reason Coulson is alive will be an important story thread throughout the show and will not undermine the impact of his death.
  • S.H.I.E.L.D. is a transnational organization and will include non-American characters (English, it looks like).

Also, a new poster was revealed via Twitter after the panel. Check it out:
