Production on the upcoming sixth season of Castle was delayed last week due to a feud between the series’ star Nathan Fillion and ABC Studios, when Fillion failed to show up to work on Friday, July 12. Apparently the star is pushing for four-day workweeks as part of a contract dispute. However, an ABC Studios rep stated that Fillion was on set Tuesday as scheduled, and production is reportedly moving forward now.
Sources state that ABC wants to keep Fillion happy, although it would be difficult to move to four-day workweeks since he is in nearly every scene.
During this dispute, the Castle star has remained positive about the show in public. From his Twitter account, recent tweets have addressed his happiness at being back with the Castle family as well as discussing Twitter with Lisa Edelstein, who is set to guest-star on the show this season.
Castle is set to return to ABC Monday, September 23. While we wait for the premiere, we can hope that this disagreement is resolved in a timely fashion, and to both parties’ satisfaction.
