After directing Skyfall, Sam Mendes did not sound like he was going to come back to the James Bond franchise despite helping to revive it. Considering his commitments to theater and the fact that he described the experience of filming his first Bond film as making him physically ill, his return sounded very unlikely. But it has now been confirmed that he will be back to direct the 24th Bond film, with Skyfall’s screenwriter John Logan returning as well.
Other than Daniel Craig, no other actors have yet to be confirmed, though it is likely Ben Whishaw will return as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, and Ralph Fiennes as M. The title and plot are also still unknown, though rumor has it Devil May Care might be next in line for the big screen. Despite little else being known, release dates have already been set, with the film due to premiere in theaters in the UK on October 23, 2015 and in the US on November 6, 2015.

I’m really glad to hear this, though I was totally surprised considering I thought he’d definitely said no. BUt it’s a good surprise.
