No Loki in Avengers 2

Loki staring menacingly and sexily at cameraThough I’m not surprised, it looks like Avengers 2 will be Loki-less. In an interview with Empire, writer/director Joss Whedon was asked if he’ll be bringing back any more old words like Loki’s famous line, “mewling quim,” and Whedon responded thusly:

First of all, imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, Loki’s not there to say those terrible things. Although I do think we should bring the word back. Not as an insult. It’s just a nice word.

So Loki won’t be there to say fancy words in the sequel? It makes sense that he won’t be there since he was the main villain in the first film and Whedon obviously doesn’t want to copy what he did before, but Loki fans will still surely be pretty devastated by his absence. At least he’ll be in Thor: The Dark World to satisfy fans’ Hiddles hunger.

Avengers 2 will be released May 1, 2015. Are you disappointed that there’ll be no Loki? Or are you glad Whedon is trying to keep things fresh? Let us know in the comments below!
