But in just the US box office alone it has reached a different milestone: $400 million, the first of any film released so far this year to do so. In fact, no other film (so far) this year has even reached $300 million, with Oz the Great and Powerful being the second highest earning film at only a little higher than $200 million at the US box office. Iron Man 3 is only the seventeenth film to reach this milestone in history, and the fifth superhero film to do so, after The Avengers, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Spider-Man. Currently, it is the highest grossing movie of the year.

Of course, there are still plenty of other major films that have either just premiered recently or will premiere later this year, but so far Tony Stark is leading the pack. How much more do you think it’ll earn? And do you think any other films this year will come anywhere close to beating it? Let us know in the comments below!
