No One’s Computer Is Safe: Mac Returns For The Veronica Mars Film

In a message sent to backers of the Veronica Mars Kickstarter Campaign, writer/director Rob Thomas has announced that Tina Majorino will be returning to reprise her role as Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie.

macThomas explains that the first encounter with Majorino was in 1996 when she, at 11 years old, emailed him with questions about his novel RATS SAW GOD for a book report. She had already done film work at that age, and she told him to keep chasing his dream.

Now, seventeen years later, Thomas and Majorino are working on their dreams together again.

Majorino played the tech-savvy sidekick to Veronica’s sleuthing ways.  Thomas explains that the role was written with Majorino in mind and that “Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond.”  Mac’s introduction to the show also allowed more complexities to show between Veronica and Wallace’s friendship. In the scheme of the series, Mac is the only female character that Veronica warmed up to immediately and respected.  It also helped that her shy, introverted ways juxtaposed Veronica’s personality — that is, until the smirk comes out.

With this addition, the confirmation count is up to eleven: Veronica Mars, Keith Mars, Logan Echolls, Wallace Fennel, Piz Piznarski, Weevil Navarro, Cliff McCormack, Madison Sinclair, Luke Haldeman, Mac Mackenzie, and the waiter.

Only five more days until production begins!
