BBC One as finally announced a premiere date for its new historical drama, The White Queen. The series, based on Phillipa Gregory’s series of historical novels, The Cousins’ War, will begin airing its 10 episode run on Sunday, 16th June on BBC One.
The White Queen is set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses, a dynastic war that pitted two families of British nobility against each other in a struggle over the throne. The series will focus on three women at the forefront of the struggle: Elizabeth Woodville (Rebecca Ferguson), Edward VI’s commoner queen, Margaret Beaufort (Amanda Hale), mother of Henry Tudor (eventually Henry VII), and Anne Neville (Faye Marsay), eventual consort of Richard III.
For those of us in the US, we get our chance to see the series on STARZ starting 10th August.
